The journey begins with a magnificent flight from Islamabad to Skardu, one of the most scenic air routes in the world. As the plane passes over the towering Himalayas and Karakoram ranges, you may catch a glimpse of Nanga Parbat’s majestic summit.
Upon arrival at Skardu Airport, our DREAMSCAPE Treks & Tours representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After a short rest, head out to visit the Katpana Cold Desert, famous for its golden dunes and panoramic views of snow-covered peaks. Capture the sunset as the colors change over the desert and mountains, then return to your hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast, set out for a scenic drive to Lower Kachura Lake, home to the world-famous Shangrila Resort. Enjoy the tranquil setting, the reflection of mountains in the emerald water and a stroll around the flower-filled gardens.
Continue further to Upper Kachura Lake, a pristine natural lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs and pine forests. The crystal-clear water invites you to enjoy a boat ride or simply sit by the shore, soaking in the peaceful alpine atmosphere. In the evening, return to Skardu for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, board your 4×4 jeep and head toward the world-famous Deosai National Park, known as the “Land of Giants.” En route, stop at the turquoise Sadpara Lake, then ascend through breathtaking mountain scenery until the vast plains of Deosai open before you.
At over 4,000 meters, Deosai is one of the highest plateaus on Earth an endless landscape of wildflowers, streams and snow-dusted peaks. Visit Sheosar Lake, a deep blue high-altitude lake offering unforgettable views of Nanga Parbat. After a picnic lunch amid nature, return to Skardu by evening.
After breakfast, depart for Khaplu Valley, about 100 km east of Skardu, following the scenic Shyok River. The road winds through traditional Balti villages, cliffs and terraced fields.
Upon arrival, check in at your hotel the beautiful Khaplu Palace & Residence, once the royal palace of the Yabgo rulers. Explore the palace museum, then visit the 14th-century Chaqchan Mosque, one of the oldest in Baltistan, built in a striking Tibetan-Islamic style. Take an evening walk through the quiet village streets and along the river before dinner.
After breakfast, begin your return journey toward Skardu with a stop in Shigar Valley, known as the “Gateway to the Karakoram.” Visit the beautifully restored Shigar Fort, a 17th-century palace now serving as a heritage hotel and museum. Wander through its wooden balconies and courtyards to learn about Balti royal life.
Continue to the Amburiq Mosque, one of the oldest in the region and enjoy a stop at Blind Lake, surrounded by sand dunes and rugged mountains a perfect place for photography. Arrive back in Skardu by evening and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Skardu Airport for your return flight to Islamabad. Weather permitting, enjoy once more the stunning aerial panorama of the world’s greatest mountains a fitting end to an unforgettable journey through Baltistan.
